THE PARALYSIS OF ANALYSIS
The first time I conceived the idea of Monday morning email to all my friends and followers was in 2017 June. A month after, I designed the concept and the name, and I planned to launch it in August of the same year. However, a few days to execute the first step of asking for people’s email address, I fell into this unnecessary analysis and below are some of them.“Will people give you their email address”?“ People don’t read their emails.”“People only reads work-related emails.”“Nobody reads random emails on a Monday morning.”“What you are giving on Facebook is enough.”“You can’t keep up with generating such a heavy content expectation every week.”“ Why must you kill your self with writing when it’s not your full-time job”.And many moreIn a nutshell, too much analysis paralyzed the idea in 2017.Two months ago, I revived the idea, and I called it “Lessons from the Mud”. I asked people to share their email address with me, and I was surprised at the number of responses I received. It was overwhelming.I shared the first email without an email manager. No analysisI shared the second one with an email manager, but it bounced back. I resent it via BCC. No analysis.I wake up very early on Monday mornings to write to my friends. I have only increased my capacity for more. No analysis. We have done 5 Mondays already, and the feedback has been excellent. The interaction via the Monday morning email is even deeper. What are the lessons here;1. Instead of analyzing if your hen will lay a black egg or a white egg, go and buy the hen first.2. Have you ever asked yourself why you are always thinking about what can go wrong rather than what can go right?3. If you are consistently afraid of being wrong, you will never learn that starting the right thing does not mean somethings cannot go wrong.4. It’s not always about being right or wrong but about being better than who you were yesterday. If you are not yet receiving my Monday morning emails and you would like to join, kindly share your email with me on hellodavidadepoju@gmail.comHe gives understanding to the simpleOluwaseun David ADEPOJU
