Your dream is like traveling in a public bus

In 2011, I took a public bus from Bodija Market in Ibadan to Agodi Gate, where I met up with someone who had a writing contract for me. As I was about to board the bus, I saw market women with all kinds of loads on their laps. Some with tomatoes, some with pepper and to my rude shock, the only space remaining on the bus was near a woman who had two chickens (the troublesome local ones). I initially wanted to wait for another bus, but a fellow student at the back of the bus encouraged me to enter. I was also pressed for time because an extra minute of delay could lead to missing the opportunity waiting for me at Agodi Gate.I entered, and it was the longest journey of my life. The chickens were shouting, a mechanic was rubbing his greasy dress on me on the other side, and the strong smell of "Ata rodo" pepper was choking me. I endured because of my goal for that trip and the encouragement of the other student at the back of the bus.I got to my destination on time and got the contract even though my shirt smelled like many things (chicken and tomato included). Reflecting on this morning, below are my thoughts; You have not started living your dream because you are waiting for the day a magical separation will happen between those who will support you and those who criticize or irritate you. I am sorry to let you know that the two sets of people are in the same place, and you cant choose only those who will support and encourage you.Living your dream is like a public bus; you have to endure the chickens, the talkative, the troublesome, the sleepers bumping their heads on your shoulders and the insulting conductors. Your destination is what matters. He gives understanding to the simple.Oluwaseun David ADEPOJU
