Blockchain from the lens of Digital Utopians and Techno-skeptics
The digital utopians and the techno-skeptics alike, agree that the blockchain technology will become mainstream and powerful, in contrast to other technologies where there are numerous and distinct schools of thought. The techno-skeptics, on the other hand, think that it might take several decades before we start to notice the impact of the technology, in contrast to the digital utopians who think that mainstreaming will happen immediately. Techno-skeptics still think that all the hype about Blockchain is unfounded and that the real innovation has not yet begun.
Another intriguing observation I've made about the technology is that there are individuals who are leading the way in innovation with it but who also have concerns they want to bring to the ecosystem's attention. However, because they have established themselves as "legends," they do not want to be branded as "techno-backsliders, technophobes, or scaremongers."
One thing is sure though, we need all the schools of thought for the technology to reach the maturity stage. Like the prediction of "singularity", the resurrection of the geeks shall come.
