A BIRD DOES NOT NEED AN AIR PERMIT TO TAKE OFF

A few days ago, I was checking through my Linkedin feed when I discovered something striking. I had just finished reading the story of a 40 years old man who has had it rough with job hunting and still hunting. As I scrolled to the next post, I saw another young man announcing his new role with Google. I checked his profile, and it read thus; "ex-LinkedIn, ex-amazon, ex-facebook". This means that this young man has worked for almost all the "big five" and now moving to another big company. Somebody called him out in the comment section to stop flaunting his former portfolio. The comment generated varying reactions that are interesting. It dawned on me that on the same platform where someone just announced that people should help him with a job, another person came to announce his move to another big company and even branded his profile as an "ex" of the most desirable companies to work in the world. Should we blame the young man for announcing his new job because there were many on the same platform looking for a job?.In another scenario, yesterday, a famous businessman in Nigeria posted his picture seated in the first-class cabin of an aeroplane and eating some fat meal. In the comment section, a young man accused the businessman of lavishing money while many are hungry. He challenged the man to help the less privileged. The businessman replied to the young man by asking him to google his name to discover all his philanthropic projects in Nigeria. Should the rich man stop taking pictures because some people will feel intimidated?. It is common to see such a situation.I have narrated these two scenarios to establish the following facts;1. The world is structured with class, the earlier we understand this, the better.2. There are two interpretations of class and status realities. You are either "motivated" or "intimidated".3. A rich man does not need the permission of the poor to spend his wealth.4. It is easy to criticize the reality you have never experienced.5. The fact that someone in an upper class does something in their reality does not mean they were out initially to intimidate anyone.6. You cannot attract what you envy.7. This year, rather than tell people how to spend their money or tell people how to tell their own stories, focus on the "Project YOU".He gives understanding to the simple.Oluwaseun David ADEPOJU
